Becoming Matisse: Early Works of the Artist

Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was a French artist and sculptor who is known for his use of dramatic color and his fluid, flat surfaces. In the 20th century, Pablo Picasso and Matisse became leading figures in the visual arts. Their ideas were adapted to collage, paper cutouts, ceramics, costuming, and stage design. This presentation will focus on the early work of Matisse.
