In this six week class, we explore strategies to help you make the most of your experience as a part-time or full-time Floridian. We will cover five crucial factors to consider as a Florida retiree and what you should know about: 1. establishing residency, 2. buying and renting real estate, 3. tax-planning strategies for migration to Florida, 4. organizing your will and estate, and 5. important tax, legal, and insurance considerations with keeping an out-of-state home. The iPhone may be the greatest travel tool since the invention of the wheel! In this class, you’ll learn how to use your iPhone to instantly translate languages, convert currency and temperature, find your way with Google Maps, use your alarm clock to guarantee wake up calls, and check weather worldwide. You’ll also learn how to preserve your battery, make calls, text messages and emails at little or no cost, keep up with news back home and take and organize quality photos with the location of each photo automatically included. Plus, dozens of other tips to add to your traveling pleasure.

Alan Freedman, a communications and public affairs professional with a degree in journalism from Boston University, has taught nearly 400 OLLI at Ringling College students how to use their iPhones with skill and confidence. He has an abiding interest in furthering others’ ability to get all they can out of today’s electronic devices.
