A good listener is one who can get out of his or her own story and be fully present to another’s story. “Teflon Listening” is skimming the surface so you can quickly get back to your agenda. Teflon Listening is also when you rush to judgment. Imagine learning how to slow down, powerfully pause, and how to get out of your own way when others upset you. This course will help you go below the surface and deepen your understanding and relationship with others, whether they be family, friends, colleagues, or business people.

Vinyasa yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga, the most popular form of yoga practiced in the U.S. Vinyasa means “moving with the breath” and is also called Flow Yoga; we will practice a series of simple yoga poses done in a sequence. I will demonstrate and then perform each movement with the class as we explore poses designed to increase our flexibility, strength, and balance. Moving with the breath helps us to connect our body with our mind, which calms us and enables us to focus. We will go into rest positions throughout our practice, and I will present options or modifications for each pose. Most importantly, we will listen to our bodies. Our yoga practice is only for ourselves, and is what each of us wants to make of it.
