“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” (The Wind in the Willows) In this course you will learn basic boating laws and regulations for waterways. It is a course for ALL boaters: personal watercraft operators, hunters or fishermen operating outboard utility boats, skippers of family cruisers, sailing enthusiasts, and canoe and kayak paddlers. All boaters must follow the same nautical rules, regulations, and courtesies of the sea. The entire family will enjoy the course. It meets Florida State Boating Safety Education requirements and includes a proctored exam approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA). Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 must take a Florida-approved boat safety course to operate a boat with 10 HP or more.

Assuming you pass the test, you’ll receive a temporary Safe Boating card. Then two weeks later you’ll receive the wallet card from the FWC (Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission). As a point of information, participants can get a reduction in their boat insurance premiums by showing the FWC card.
